Trying to decide what to pack was arduous, and Tessa had all but turned her bedroom upside down as she chose jeans, skirts, dresses and accessories. Shoes would probably take all day, and she almost giggled at the thought of finding a place for all her shoes in Toli’s immaculate closet. Though the closet was huge and his wardrobe was relatively small, she had a feeling he had no idea just how much room she would need. She snickered to herself as she filled two huge suitcases with just the clothes she would need for a Las Vegas winter, as well as a handful of other things for the times they would travel to places with other climates.

The doorbell startled her and she hurried down the stairs to get it before the incessant ringing woke Raina from her nap. Once she woke up, Tessa would be hard pressed to get anything done.

She was surprised to see her older sister, Ava, standing on the front step in the middle of the day. She opened the door with a smile.

“Hey! What are you doing here?”

“We need to talk!” Ava brushed past her, pulling off her coat as she made her way into the kitchen.

“Nice to see you, too,” Tessa murmured, following her. “You want me to make coffee?”

“No. I have to get back to the office soon,” Ava sank into a chair.

“So you took time off in the middle of a work day just to stop by?” Tessa folded her arms across her chest and scowled. She had a feeling she knew what this was about, and she wasn’t in the mood to hear a lecture from the older sister who’d gotten pregnant at 17, married the baby’s father, divorced him after less than a year and was pregnant again by someone else six months later. Granted, she was still married to the father of her two younger children, but she had no right to lecture Tessa.

“I took the time to figure out what the hell is going on with you!” Ava grunted, glaring at her. “It’s bad enough that you filed for divorce but—”

“For the millionth time,” Tessa hissed. “I did not file for divorce—Bobby did!”

“Then you cheated on him and forced him to,” Ava said impatiently. “And it’s just not acceptable.”

“As I’ve told you repeatedly,” Tessa forced herself to remain calm, “I did not cheat on him and—”

“Oh, but you suddenly have this rich, exciting boyfriend that you just met and now you’re moving in with him?”

“As a matter of fact, yes.” Tessa glared at her.

“I don’t buy it, and neither do Mom and Dad.”

“Mom and Dad are fine,” Tessa said. “You’re the one who’s unhappy. You’ve always had this ridiculous affection for Bobby, and it’s starting to piss me off.”

“Piss you off?” Ava stood up and pointed a finger at her. “He’s the best thing that ever happened to you and—”

“Why is he the best thing that ever happened to me?” Tessa snorted. “Because he’s small and nerdy and makes your Neanderthal of a husband look cooler?”

Ava gaped at her.
